The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Faculty of Information Technology for a strategic and experienced Research Operations Manager. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be at the forefront of driving operational excellence across the Faculty’s research activities. Reporting to the Group Manager (Research & Graduate Research), you will lead the operations function within the research portfolio, with responsibility for developing and implementing efficient, compliant, and scalable systems, processes, and resources that underpin all research support functions. You will collaborate closely with the Deputy Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Graduate Research), and other senior academic and professional staff to support strategic planning, governance, and the smooth execution of research and funding activities.
Your focus will be on improving and streamlining research operations, with particular emphasis on administration, automation, and service efficiency. You will lead post-award processes and ensure robust compliance, risk management, and quality assurance frameworks are in place. You will also oversee strategic budget planning for the research portfolio, managing a budget of up to $5 million and ensuring accurate forecasting and resource allocation.
You bring significant experience in research or academic operations within a large, complex organisation. With strong leadership, business process, and research management capabilities, you’re adept at managing systems, leading teams, and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Your data-driven approach and strategic mindset will enable you to drive meaningful improvements across the research operations landscape.
This is your opportunity to lead impactful change and shape the future of research support in a globally recognised, forward-thinking IT Faculty. Join a collaborative team that’s committed to innovation, service excellence, and research success.
