The Role
Each week Double J features the best live sets from the archives, as well as new recordings from their target audience's favourite local and touring acts. Reporting to the Double J Executive Producer, you will produce Double J’s weekly iconic live music program “Live at the Wireless” and will help shape the sound of the show.
The Job
- Produce the weekly on-air live music program, including developing running schedule, scripting, writing copy, and other tasks as required.
- Work with the live music team to coordinate new music recordings and update archival sets for broadcast.
- Work with presenter to script weekly episodes and radio promos and develop content ideas for on-air and online to increase program reach and awareness.
- Coordinate content to be played across other Double J shows, and across all platforms including video, online and social media.
- Work with Double J’s Manager and ABC Legal on performance release paperwork and other administrative tasks.
- Produce other Double J programs, and undertake tasks assigned by the Double J Executive Producer where required.
- Opportunity to work and learn with a talented group of music fans, developing new content-making skills and experience in a high-profile ABC radio station.

About You
This is a great role for someone with a strong interest in live music and is passionate about historical and current music trends for the Double J 35 – 49-year-old demographic. You will have experience in creating radio, audio and online music content or other relevant experience.
You'll have:
- Proven recent experience in music radio with accomplished editorial skills and judgement with high-level experience in producing key elements of a program’s sound.
- Proven ability to produce creative and engaging music radio for a 30-50-year-old audience, and an intricate understanding of the audience and the strategic direction of Double J.
- High-level interpersonal and motivational skills, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail and forward planning.
- Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to provide feedback to presenters.
Sound working knowledge and experience in operating digital broadcast systems and production equipment.
- Demonstrated understanding and passion to source and create authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community, including stories that reflect a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Indigenous communities where editorially relevant.
