Are you an experienced sports journalist with a talent for storytelling and a passion for breaking news? The ABC is seeking a dynamic and versatile Sports Journalist to join our passionate and dedicated team.
In this exciting role, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of sports, covering the latest news, events, and stories that captivate Australians from every corner of the country. From the roar of the crowd to the behind-the-scenes action, you'll be at the centre of it all, delivering compelling content across web, app, video and audio platforms.
The role will include:
- Crafting captivating stories that resonate with our diverse audience, reflecting the rich tapestry of cultures, geographies, and backgrounds that make up Australia.
- Seamlessly transitioning between various mediums, from scripting video packages to producing engaging audio segments and crafting web articles that keep our audiences informed and entertained.
- Harnessing your multimedia production skills, including video and audio editing, to bring sports stories to life in a visually engaging and creative way.
- Building and maintaining a network of contacts within the New South Wales and national sporting communities in the ACT and beyond, ensuring you're always ahead of the game.
About You
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- Accomplished experience as a journalist, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content that meets editorial demands across various outlets and platforms.
- Sophisticated writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling stories that engage and grow audiences.
- Proficiency in multimedia production techniques, including video and audio editing, as well as a sound understanding of digital production methods.
- A comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of sports and their governing bodies.
- A proven ability to manage time effectively, collaborate with the state news team and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
