The Role

Based out of the Parliament House bureau, you'll work closely with the Bureau leadership team to commission and organise reporters and field operators to provide coverage and distinctive content for all network programs and platforms. 

The Job

Reporting to the Editor Politics, Canberra Parliament House you will:

  • Anticipate national coverage needs across all platforms through close engagement with bureau and national and network teams
  • Manage logistics for breaking news coverage to ensure that relevant newsgathering resources are deployed to meet editorial needs across multiple platforms
  • Oversee newsgathering processes to ensure output meets ABC Editorial Policy and community expectations

About You

You are an experienced reporter and/or producer with advanced knowledge of news production in a multi-platform environment, including the creation of compelling content for digital, mobile and broadcast platforms and in particular, breaking news.

You'll also be able to demonstrate:

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Proven experience leading a team in a fast-paced news environment
  • Experience using audience data for insights and the latest trends in audience behaviour
  • Ability to commission content for digital, mobile and social platforms
