The Role
The ABC is looking for an accomplished program maker to produce and present live local radio programs and multiplatform digital content for ABC Northern Tasmania. You will primarily work on the weekday Breakfast or Drive Programs, and as needed for emergency broadcasting.
The Job
- Provide in-studio radio production support and manage talk-back callers and guests.
- Present live local programs and emergency broadcasts
- Contribute to the implementation of emergency coverage plans and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
- Create local content that can be shared with other teams across the ABC.
- Engage with local audiences via the ABC Northern Tasmania Facebook page.
- Cross promote other ABC content to increase audience engagement.
- Generate stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country.

About You
You’ll have:
- Proficient program making skills with a proven ability to develop and make original and engaging audio and cross-platform content for audiences on radio and audio-on-demand platforms.
- Accomplished live presentation skills
- Editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
- A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect Australia’s diversity.
- A proven ability to source and maintain contacts across the Northern Tasmanian and broader Australian communities.
