The Role
ABC News is seeking a Studio Director (Mosart automation pilot) for a 12-month contract to plan and direct news content across a range of News productions and programs in our very busy Melbourne studio.
The Job
Under limited direction and reporting to the News Operations Studio Team Lead, you will:
- Set-up and operate automated studio facilities to a consistently high standard ensuring seamless continuity of program output.
- Brief and direct presenters and production staff to meet the creative vision and ensure the smooth running of the program.
- An excellent understanding of contemporary News and Current Affairs production techniques and curiosity to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Manage and maintain studio equipment to meet production requirements, assess faults and follow current reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with producers, journalists, and craft specialists to create high quality video content
- Enhance production quality and efficiency by regularly contributing to new program ideas and production techniques, collaborating across the news team.

You are great with people and have an ability to build relationships and rapport with your team and external talent and suppliers. You thrive in a high pressure in a live-to-air environment with tight deadlines. You'll have:
- Demonstrated significant skills and experience as a Studio Director (Mosart automation pilot).
- Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in Viz Mosart and ENPS as well as associated newsroom production processes and systems.
- Advanced ability to lead, organise and direct talent and crew to perform their designated tasks to meet program requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and prioritising projects and tasks with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement while working under pressure for live-to-air programs and deadlines.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts.
- Demonstrated understanding of editorial elements of news production and the ability to contribute technical and creative expertise to the final product.
