The Opportunity | Te kōwhiringa 

In the role of Project Engineer, reporting directly to the Project Manager you will be able to manage all aspects of the civil and structural operation.  Based in either Wellington or Picton, you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain strong client relationships, liaise with the public and prepare progress and claim reports. You will also have a quality and safety ethos and perform audits and checks to ensure compliance with Health & Safety, quality and environmental policies.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

• Participate in the management of assigned contracts, ensuring contract performance meets customer requirements in terms of quality and timeframes.
• Assist the Project Manager to manage project documentation including contracts, bonds and insurance, subcontractor and supplier agreements, and claims.
• Ensure that all monthly financial management reporting requirements are met. Complete workload forecasting for the contract.
• Ensure appropriate Project Management Methodology (PMM) and quality assurance systems are in place

In order to be successful in this role, the Project Engineer will need to have the following skills:

• Proven project engineer experience and a suitable level of experience in the construction industry
• Experience working within a contracting organisation.
• Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated customer relationship management skills
• Sound project or engineering operations experience, including budget management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A self-starter, highly motivated and goal-oriented
• The flexibility to be mobile as working on projects outside your home base will be required from time to time.
• A formal civil engineering qualification (BE, NZDE)
• Understanding and worked on NEC3/4 and or 3910/3916 contracts
