Apprentice - Civil Contstruction

Downer Transport & Infrastructure has exciting opportunities available for Apprentice Civil Construction Workers to join our business. 

You’ll be joining a highly supportive team and will gain valuable hands-on experience whilst also completing a Civil Construction Apprenticeship – earn while you learn! 

Downer’s Apprenticeship Program will provide the skills, guidance and development that can lead to an exciting career in the civil industry. 

What the job looks like

• Shadow and learn from various crew members on the operations of Pavement Rehabilitation, Stabilisation and Pavement Construction and the associated equipment
• Carry out general labour duties including loading and unloading plant
• Work towards obtaining plant tickets including roller, skid steer, stabiliser and excavator

What you'll bring

• Current Driver’s Licence
• Current General Construction Induction card
• Willingness to learn and a can-do attitude is essential
• Strong team player with the proven ability to work efficiently with others
• Strong commitment to a Zero Harm culture

Travel Requirement

Applicants must have the ability to work regionally and intrastate for periods of time as required and travel to and from the accommodation provided and/or worksite.  Crews can be away for up to 4 weeks at a time - we strive to have operators return home where possible however this may be difficult due to location and restrictions with working hours.  Downer covers all accommodation costs and provides allowances for meals, living away and travel expenses in accordance with the modern award.
