Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 zinc operations, located near Cloncurry in Queensland. Dugald River was successfully commissioned ahead of schedule and under budget, with first production of zinc concentrate in October 2017.Dugald River is estimated to have a mine life of 20+ years processing an average of 1.8 million tonnes of ore per annum. The operation predominantly produces zinc concentrate, with by-products including lead and silver.
Superintendent - Health & Safety
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Superintendent to join our SHEC team at our Dugald River operations.
Reporting to the SHEC Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of Safety and Health activities onsite.
The role is available on a drive in, drive out basis (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa Districts on a 4/3, 4/3 roster, or FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane on an 8/6, 4/3 roster. An attractive additional incentive is available to employees who live or move into the Cloncurry township. MMG is supportive of our local communities and region and persons of Kalkadoon heritage and other local Indigenous are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications, Competencies & knowledge highly desired
- Qualifications in relevant Safety and/or Health discipline
- Demonstrated experience in similar roles with strong stakeholder relationship skills and delivery focus
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing Health and Safety Management Systems
- Knowledge and application of Queensland Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Acts and Regulations
Some of your key responsibilities include
- Positively influence and provide subject matter expertise to support the onsite culture around safety, health, hygiene and emergency response
- Provide leadership in Risk Management methodologies and processes
- Conduct and coordinate hygiene monitoring according to site procedures and work instructions
- Implement health and safety management plans
- Support the delivery of the MMG approach to delivering work safely, including work team member and supervisor accountabilities in safety
- Drive and support safety, health, hygiene and emergency response improvement project
- Ensure emergency response capacity for all foreseeable emergency events
- Maintain health and safety data according to site SHEC recording and reporting Work Quality Requirement including entry into data management systems (ESDAT, IEM, ERIK, GIS, Borealis, SAP), verification and reporting
- Compile and report statistics for DRM, MMG, RSHQ, Queensland Health, and other legislative requirements
- Monitor and report on health and safety related licences, regulations and standards
- Day-to-day supervisory support including professional development, task management and mentoring to site-based Health and Safety team members
