Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 800 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.
Mine Surveyor – Dugald River
MMG Dugald River is seeking an experienced Mine Surveyor to join our Technical Services team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, this position plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely spatial data to support safe and efficient mining operations.
This is a site-based role on an 8/6 roster, available as Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa, or Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- Proven experience in underground mine surveying, with a solid understanding of survey control and underground mining methods.
- Proficiency in using Leica TS16 Total Station or similar equipment.
- Experience with void scanning technologies such as Hovermap.
- Competency in spatial data management software (Deswik preferred).
- RePL and RPA operation experience desirable but not essential.
- Manual driver’s licence required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Perform daily surveys safely and effective to support underground mining operations success.
- Measure and record underground excavations.
- Setout for mining development and production.
- End-of-month reporting on mining progress.
- Maintain survey records and systems to ensure data integrity and reliability.
- Collaborate with the Mining Technical Services team to support planning and deliver safe and effective solutions.
- Survey support for non-operational stakeholders as required.
