We are pleased to advise that we seek a Legal Counsel. Based in Beijing Office and reporting to Deputy General Counsel, the purpose of this job is to involves the delivery of commercial legal expertise and bespoke legal advice to Corporate principally and also the Australian and African sites.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities：
• Assisting in the delivery of commercial legal expertise and bespoke legal advice and support primarily to MMG corporate entities, the Board, Executive Committee, Group Functions (MMG Corporate) in Melbourne and Beijing including but not limited to Business Development, Finance, Marketing and Supply Chain and (at the discretion of and pursuant to the instruction of General Counsel) the Australian, African and Peruvian operations utilising internal and external resources.
• Supporting litigation involving MMG Corporate and arbitration or litigation in international forums.
• Assisting with activities relating to training and development of MMG employees in relation to the Corporate Legal Compliance Standard and the Anti-corruption Standard.
• Supporting the reporting obligations of the MMG Legal function to CMN and CMC.
To be considered, candidates must have
• Corporate and commercial law, exposure to litigation and disputes
• Strong commercial acumen
• Effective communicator including fluent English language skills
• Ability to work independently
• Customer orientated
• Strong drafting and research skills.
