Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Senior Specialist – Contractor Management
Reporting to the Principal – Contract Management and Supply Operations the Senior Specialist - Contractor Management ensures that all contractors performing controlled activities at our Rosebery operation safely and as per MMG standards and contract requirements.
This role can be based onsite at our Rosebery operation with relocation support on a 5:2 / 4:3 roster or an 8:6 DIDO roster.
MMG derives maximum value from its external spend through supporting Supply Chain Australian Operations with managing contractors throughout full contract life cycle from scope of work risk assessment, contractor mobilisation and in term operations to demobilisation and transition.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate positive, constructive and preventative safety culture onsite with contractors who perform Controlled Activities onsite;
- These Controlled Activities that involve material risks may include - but not limited to - mining, drilling, maintenance, electrical, mobile equipment, explosives, fuel, etc;
- Support Supply Chain Australian Operations with safety and operational data reporting as required;
- Support site Contract Owners and Contractor Overseers to set up and embed contractor management processes and best practices, and to provide training and support as required;
- Attend contractor pre-start meetings on a regular basis, organizes and facilitates regular contractor safety review meetings and reporting metrics as per each contract;
- Conduct field task observations (FTOs) and inspections regularly to verify critical controls and compliance to MMG safety standards and relevant site procedures and processes;
- Maintain collaborative and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive success of safe operations at Rosebery;
- Support any safety and/or continuous supply issues/disputes with the support of Supply Chain team and site stakeholders;
- Contribute to safe, sustainable and ethical contractor practices;
- This role is based onsite in order to work closely with contractors who perform controlled activities onsite and to support Contract Owners who are accountable for the overall contractor performance.
About You
- 3-5 years’ experience in contractor management or safety compliance related roles.
- Ability to review procedures and work instructions and identify gaps in critical controls
- Proven ability to manage contractors in various operational scopes and able to identify nonconforming processes and behaviours.
- Ability to navigate through complexity to deliver outcomes with a strong attention to detail and the ability to meet project timelines
- Strong computer literacy with experience in Power BI, SAP, Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of underground mining operations and / or a production environment
- An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site’s standards and procedures.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as a team and support the Company Values
- A manual C Class driver’s license
- Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
