Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 800 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.
Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Reporting to the Manager – Human Resources & Training, the Senior Human Resources Business Partner will play a critical role in providing strategic and operational HR support at Dugald River Mine (DRM). This position partners closely with site leadership to deliver and embed HR initiatives aligned with DRM’s business objectives and operational needs.
This position would suit a confident and collaborative HR professional who thrives in a high energy mining environment, brings solid experience managing ER matters, enjoys engaging a diverse workforce and being involved across all facets of generalist HR.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employee/Industrial Relations, or a related business discipline, with demonstrated experience in delivering operational HR support.
- Strong understanding of contemporary HR principles, core functions, and responsibilities, including performance management and workforce planning.
- Sound knowledge of industrial relations frameworks and legislation, with experience interpreting and supporting Enterprise Agreement negotiations.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
This is a permanent position on a roster of 8 days on, 6 days off/ 4 days on, 3 days off, with potential flexible working options considered. Various transport arrangements are available including:
- Daily Bus in Bus out (BIBO) from Cloncurry.
- Drive in Drive out (DIDO) from Mount Isa. Or,
- Fly in Fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective, value-driven HR service delivery.
- Provide expert advice and training to leaders on key HR systems and processes, including workforce management, performance management, employee relations, and grievance handling.
- Partner with leaders to manage employee grievances and disciplinary matters in line with MMG policies and legislative requirements, including conducting investigations and facilitating fair outcomes.
- Support line managers with all aspects of performance management, including setting SMART objectives and driving ongoing development.
- Contribute to key HR initiatives and projects such as diversity & inclusion, change management, and employee engagement.
- Assist with the delivery of key people processes, including performance reviews, annual remuneration reviews, workforce budgeting, and cost planning.
- Collaborate closely with the wider HR team across Dugald River, Rosebery, and MMG Group Office to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.
