MMG Kinsevere is looking for an experienced Congolese to develop and implement its exploration strategy in the DRC. Reporting to the Exploration Manager – DRC, he will lead regional and near-mine exploration, from target generation through resource definition and project handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the exploration strategy, annual plans and multiyear exploration portfolio.

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for drilling, geological mapping, geochemistry, geophysics, targeting, modelling and project evaluation.

• Approve technical programme designs and changes within delegated authority, using integrated geological, geochemical, geophysical and spatial data.

• Lead the identification, evaluation and prioritisation of exploration prospects, progressing targets from concept to drilling readiness and resource definition.

• Manage programme delivery within approved scope, schedules and budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and contractor performance.

• Establish and maintain technical standards, quality controls and compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

• Manage safety, health, environmental, community, land access, technical, operational and reputational risks.

• Mentor and develop national geologists, lead multidisciplinary teams and provide technical advice to management.

Competencies

• Expertise in mineral exploration, geological interpretation and 3D modelling.

• Strong portfolio, project, budget, contract and risk management skills.

• Effective leadership of multidisciplinary teams and sound technical decision-making.

• Ability to analyse and solve complex problems under uncertainty.

• Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Proficiency in exploration and geoscientific data management tools, including QGIS, MapInfo, Leapfrog, Maptek and Geosoft Target.

Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of sediment-hosted copper deposits and the geological setting of the Central African Copperbelt and Katanga.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the exploration value chain, from target generation and testing to resource definition and project handover.

• Strong understanding of exploration best practices, technical assurance, quality control and geoscientific data management.

• Knowledge of mining tenure and regulatory requirements applicable in the DRC.

• Practical understanding of commercial evaluation, budgeting, contract management, risk management and mining sector decision-making processes.

Experience

• More than eight years of mineral exploration experience, including substantial experience in base metals.

• At least five years in a leadership role, with direct responsibility for multidisciplinary teams, technical programmes, budgets and contractor agreements.
