Your Impact

Join our Wulkuraka manufacturing site as a Senior Control & Automation Engineer, where you’ll shape how automation supports plant performance across our packaging operations.

You’ll lead the technical improvement strategy across people, processes, and machines within the control & automation space, supporting a complex manufacturing environment with a wide range of equipment and systems.

This role is focused on setting direction, prioritising the right work, and enabling your team and stakeholders to deliver effective automation outcomes. You’ll lead a small team and work closely with trades, reliability, and external partners to improve system performance, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement.

While you’ll bring strong technical capability, your focus will be on guiding priorities, influencing outcomes, and ensuring the right problems are being solved — rather than being hands-on with programming day-to-day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and prioritise control & automation activities across the site
  • Lead and develop a small team of C&A specialists (2 direct reports)
  • Manage external contractors delivering PLC/SCADA programming and system changes
  • Lead the technical improvement strategy across automation, systems, and processes
  • Partner with trades and reliability teams to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across automation and process control systems
  • Provide guidance to leaders on system capability gaps and improvement areas
  • Ensure automation work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard

About You

  • Experience in control & automation, ideally within FMCG or a manufacturing environment
  • Background in electrical engineering or a relevant trade
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and set direction
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with contractors and third parties
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong prioritisation skills
  • Comfortable stepping back from the detail to focus on outcomes and direction
