Join Asahi Beverages as Corporate Counsel on a 2-year fixed-term contract, reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Commercial. Play a hands-on role partnering with stakeholders on exciting brand campaigns, commercial contracts and consumer-facing legal matters. A career building opportunity for a junior lawyer looking to build broad in-house experience with some of Australia’s most well-known beverage brands.  This contract role has been created as part of a significant business-wide project involving updates to marketing & collateral across the organisation. You will help the legal team manage ongoing commercial legal work while supporting the broader business through this period of increased activity.

You’ll play an important role in helping the business move quickly and confidently, while ensuring legal risk is managed in a practical and commercially balanced way. You’ll be a trusted advisor to a broad range of stakeholders, supporting the development and execution of brand campaigns, promotions and commercial initiatives that connect our consumers with our portfolio of leading brands. This role offers a front-row seat that will directly impact how some of Australia’s most recognised beverage brands are marketed, sold and grown.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales (in Australia and New Zealand), Marketing and Trade Marketing stakeholders to provide practical and commercially focussed legal advice.
• Review and advise on commercial contracts, brand campaigns, marketing assets and general promotional activities.
• Support matters involving IP, consumer law, competition law, privacy and Alcoholic Beverages Advertising Code compliance.
• Translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for your stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and become a valued business partner.
• Balance legal risk with commercial objectives to support effective decision-making, with appropriate support and escalation.

About You

You may be a junior lawyer in private practice looking for your first in-house move, or you may already be working in an in-house legal team. Either way, you’ll bring a strong technical foundation and a genuine interest in working closely with the business.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates with exposure to:

• intellectual property
• commercial contracts
• consumer law
• competition law
• marketing, advertising, promotions or brand-related matters
• consumer-facing industries such as FMCG, retail, food and beverage, alcohol or similar

You’ll be confident, practical and personable. You’ll enjoy working with stakeholders, be comfortable giving a clear recommendation and have the judgement to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes.
