The Fundraising Communications Manager plays a key role within WVA’s Private Funding Group, leading the development and execution of values-aligned communication strategies that engage and inspire donors across all Private Funding donor segments. Working collaboratively with the broader Private Funding team and other communications specialists, this role is responsible for producing high-quality, compelling content and collateral—including grant and funding proposals, press releases, EDMs, direct mail campaigns, and emergency response materials. The role also oversees the preparation of quarterly budgets, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and internal quality standards.
This position is ideal for a strategic communicator with a passion for storytelling, a deep understanding of donor engagement, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact through effective fundraising communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic, creative communication plans to drive revenue growth and strengthen WVA’s brand in the philanthropic sector. This includes collaborating with Engagement Managers on campaign execution and ensuring all strategies align with WVA’s brand identity and resonate with high-value donors.
- Produce high-quality fundraising materials—including grant proposals, EDMs, direct mail, and emergency response content—tailored to donor audiences. This involves audience analysis, copywriting, design coordination, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure timely, data-informed, and impactful communications across fundraising channels.
Who we’re looking for
As the successful applicant, you will have a breadth of capabilities including the ability to see opportunities where others see obstacles and demonstrate a can-do attitude, creativity and a focus on solutions.
You will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising and/or communications, with a proven track record of success
- Exceptional writing and copywriting abilities, with a donor-centric mindset and experience crafting content for both print and digital platforms
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Highly organised, with excellent project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Solid understanding of the philanthropic landscape, including corporate partnerships, trusts, and foundations
- Strong storytelling skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to simplify complex ideas for diverse audiences
- Collaborative team player, comfortable working cross-functionally and contributing to a positive team culture
- Design proficiency (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) is an asset
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
