Are you passionate about education, community development, and working alongside First Nations communities? Join World Vision Australia’s Central Australian team and help bring the Unlock Literacy model to life in Warlpiri communities.
About the Role
As the Project Facilitator, you will play a key role in adapting and implementing the Unlock Literacy model in partnership with three remote Warlpiri communities. This evidence-based model supports early readers by promoting five core reading skills through teacher support, community engagement, culturally relevant materials, and student progress monitoring.
You’ll work closely with local community facilitators, elders, and governance bodies to ensure the program is community-led, culturally grounded, and impactful. The role will support the project across three remote Aboriginal communities located in Central Australia - Nyirripi, Lajamanu and Willowra.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of project activities in line with implementation plans and budgets
- Facilitate community consultations and planning sessions
- Mentor and support local facilitators to build capacity and confidence
- Collaborate with community leaders to adapt literacy materials to the Warlpiri context
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Collect and report on project data, learnings, and stories of change
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with experience in remote communities, who is flexible, motivated and great at establishing relationships.
You will have:
- Experience working in remote Aboriginal communities, especially in education or community development
- Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of culturally responsive and rights-based development approaches
- Flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit
- Willingness to travel to remote communities at least 2 weeks per month
- Ochre Card (NT Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain
What you need to know…
This role is a full-time Permanent role in Alice Springs and requires regular travel to remote communities.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
