The position

Utilise your generalist video production skills to make meaningful changes to peoples lives all around the world. Capture, create and utilise content to help those in emergencies, emerging countries and vulnerable situations to change both their world, and the perception of the Australian people. 

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, enabling us to support our mission of empowering Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable children and adults.

Your areas of responsibility:

  • Produce photography, video capture and story-telling that meet business unit objectives and editorial quality requirements
  • Clarify business objectives and propose appropriate communication solutions to WVA business units to maximise return on investment
  • Script, direct, produce, edit, animate and distribute video content to meet briefed requirements
  • Participate in film shoots (video & stills) domestically and internationally
  • Give and take direction and proactively contribute to a culture of ideas
  • Set up and maintain production processes, procedures and maintenance schedules that will optimise output
  • Work collaboratively with external producers and agency partners to conceptually and technically, define and continually refine the video production process for WVA
  • Monitor industry approaches across the film, television and digital media industries to inform procedural improvements consistent with appropriate and applicable best practice and principles of good stewardship
  • Ensure WVA legal and ACFID requirements regarding the use of resources are adhered to by external partners
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with the Field Resourcing Curators and other key staff responsible for acquiring, creating and archiving footage
  • Provide input to resource gathering trips to ensure opportunities for improving stock footage resources and secondary resources are maximised
  • Ensure that all WVA communications meet WVA professional, accuracy, quality and corporate standards

Who we’re looking for 

We're seeking a self-motivated individual who enjoys collaborating with others and has excellent communication skills. You will be hard working, creative and have an eye for visual storytelling.

qualifications and experience:

  • 2-3+ years professional video experience in a junior or other role as a content producer
  • Experience of developing and producing original content for web
  • Demonstrated ability to create factually based narratives, stories or segments
  • Demonstrated experience in video production together with a variety of basic skills in writing and or directing, shooting and editing short form dramas and/or documentaries
  • Proven high level of operational knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications
  • Strong production management, trafficking and scheduling capabilities
  • Tertiary qualifications in Film and TV, Digital Media or equivalent
