The position
The Head of Content and Social Media (owned, earned and paid) will lead and be responsible for the strategy, creation and execution of content across multiple platforms to inspire action, raise awareness, and support the organisations strategic and fundraising objectives. You will work closely with senior leadership, fundraising, and our brand and communications teams to craft compelling content that elevates the World Vision Australia (WVA) brand and its influence across boardrooms, loungerooms, classrooms, cabinet rooms and congregations.
This role requires a deep understanding of digital marketing trends, building and commercialising social media awareness, excellent leadership and cross-organisation collaboration, and a passion for delivering against strategic goals. This is a unique opportunity to drive measurable growth for the world’s largest NGO.
Due to the nature of our work, this role will be required to be on-call and/or undertake work outside of business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership - Lead and mentor a content and social media team to achieve WVA’s strategic goals. Collaborate with stakeholders and provide strategic advice on social media issues and risks.
- Content Strategy and Creation - Develop and oversee multi-channel content strategies across TikTok, Meta, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Manage video content production and drive innovative content creation.
- Social Media Management and Optimisation - Lead social media strategy and manage all platforms for WVA and the CEO. Optimise campaigns, monitor trends, and turn cultural moments into social media opportunities.
- People Leadership - Attract, retain, and develop top talent while ensuring compliance with employment laws. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment and lead performance management cycles.
Who we’re looking for
As the successful applicant, you will have a breadth of capabilities including the ability to see opportunities where others see obstacles and demonstrate a can-do attitude, creativity and a focus on solutions.
You will have:
- Senior level experience in content or social media marketing roles, with significant retail experience.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor high-performing teams and manage stakeholder relationships professionally.
- Deep understanding of platform-specific content strategies, emerging social media trends, and managing social media advertising campaigns.
- Strong portfolio of successful, large-scale social campaigns and editorial initiatives.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic digital environment and work well under pressure.
- Proficient in using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and expert in reporting and presenting on social media analytics and ROI optimization.
- Relevant qualifications and experience in marketing, social media marketing and content marketing.
