Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Regional Enrolled Nurse Cadetship Program

  • Targeted recruitment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Salary: $57,373 - $59,072 p.a. (pro-rata)– Temporary Part Time - AIN

Overview

Regional Local Health Networks are accepting applications on a rolling basis from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, as part of a special measure of targeted recruitment.

Applications are invited from motivated and enthusiastic people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, wanting to kick-start their careers in the nursing profession.

To apply for this program, applicants must:

  • have applied through SATAC to commence studying the Diploma of Nursing at a TAFE SA regional campus; or
  • currently studying and completed no more than two semesters at a TAFE SA regional campus.

Only those who are offered and accepted a place with a TAFE SA regional campus will be eligible for a position under this program.

Applications will be assessed as they are received, with a commencement date to be negotiated between successful applicants and the relevant health unit.

Successful applicants work in paid employment two (2) days per week as Assistants in Nursing (for up to 18 months) while completing their Diploma studies. This is a great foundation for a career in nursing; it provides cadets with valuable work experience and opportunities to put into practice learning from their Diploma of Nursing study. Cadets complete the program with a qualification and the knowledge and skills required to provide quality nursing care.

Guided and supported by experienced Enrolled and Registered Nurses, successful applicants receive close supervision as they grow and build nursing skills and capabilities.

Assistant in Nursing positions are available at various hospitals locations across regional South Australia.
