The Social Work Service is an integral part of our Emergency Department, providing a high-quality, specialised service to both patients and their families. Our mission is to improve the social and emotional well-being of individuals in crisis by offering comprehensive support and facilitating discharge planning. We work closely with community agencies to ensure safe and effective discharge outcomes while providing consultation and support to our multidisciplinary team.

Position Overview:

As a Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to operate under limited supervision within a multidisciplinary team. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver a high-quality service to patients in the Emergency Department. You will be accountable to the Team Coordinator of the ED Social Work Service.

  • Utilise a trauma-informed care model to provide assessment, consultation, and intervention.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to enhance effective discharge planning.
  • Prioritise consumer participation by focusing on patient strengths, empowerment, and well-being.
  • Contribute to service improvement activities, including research and education for colleagues and the multidisciplinary team.
