Overview

The Registered Midwife is an integral part of the multidisciplinary maternity team providing woman centred care that is focused on individual needs, expectations and aspirations to achieve optimal birthing outcomes.

RMCLHN Maternity Services offer Midwifery Group Practice as standard at all three of it's birthing sites. The Midwifery casual pool offers Registered Midwives and Registered Nurse/Midwives the opportunity to work as part of the Murraylands and/or the Riverland Midwifery teams providing casual roster cover and leave back-up.

The Registered Nurse/Midwife provides midwifery services in health service and community settings. Employees working within this level develop from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. An employee at this level accepts accountability for his or her own standards of nursing/midwifery care and for activities delegated to others.

Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
