Whyalla Hospital

Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is a large regional hospital comprising of 75 beds including flex beds and a designated High Dependency Unit. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital’s Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also, one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service

The Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service is a large regional hospital that provides a wide range of services including emergency, general and surgical, maternity, outpatient, and outreach services. The hospital has 58 beds including flex and monitored beds.  The Port Augusta Hospital also has chemotherapy services and has a Renal Dialysis Unit and a Paediatric Department, both of which are the largest outside of Adelaide. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. A Senior Podiatrist plays a crucial role in healthcare, specializing in diagnosing, treating, and managing foot and lower limb conditions. They provide advanced clinical assessments and treatments, oversee junior podiatrists and allied health professionals, and collaborate closely with other healthcare providers such as physicians and physiotherapists. Senior Podiatrists develop personalized treatment plans, educate patients on foot health, and contribute to research projects to advance podiatric medicine. Their work aims to optimize foot health and improve quality of life for patients.

About You:

  • Must hold a recognised qualification within the Podiatry Profession and be eligible for (full) membership of the relevant Allied Health Profession.
  • Apply specialist professional expertise (including as a Rural Generalist or within a specific discipline specialty) in the provision of complex clinical and/or consultancy services across FUNLHN and/or within the relevant professional networks.
  • Operate with professional independence, clinical competence and highly developed reflective-practice skills, drawing on professional direction in the application of new or sophisticated techniques.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of FUNLHN strategic directions, health unit operations, service delivery and workforce issues, and very high-level professional skills to achieve responsibilities of a complex and varied nature.
  • Provide advice to management on professional service development, practice and redesign, in response to demand and client needs.
