About You:

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Consultant within the Emergency Departments of Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals.

The Emergency Department Consultant is responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to them in the Emergency Department in collaboration with the responsible Resident Medical Officers, Registrars, fellow Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals.

In this role you will be involved in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and continuing education activities.

What about work? You’ll be on a 7 day, 38 hour (4 shifts) per week roster (full-time hours) made up of day and late shifts with the capacity to make roster requests to accommodate all that South Australia has to offer. Consultants are rostered from the morning through to midnight and senior ED registrars/medical practitioners overnight with consultants on call. We pride ourselves on having a friendly and inclusive team across medical, nursing, admin and allied health with social activities organised throughout the year. Across the ED’s we see a wide variety of cases, from neonates and paediatrics through to geriatrics, including trauma, toxicology and resuscitation cases which you will be involved with assessing and managing. 

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
