Overview

The Women’s & Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.  We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. 

Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

The Division of Surgical Services coordinates and manages support to the surgical departments and units of the WCH. The hospital is the main referral centre for complex paediatric surgical conditions, for South Australia, the Northern Territory and some regional centres in Eastern Victoria and Eastern New South Wales and supports a clinical and basic science research and teaching program.

The Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) unit admits 80% of children in preparation for elective surgical/medical interventions.

The Day Surgery Unit comprises 20 beds/cots catering for children/young adolescents aged from 4 weeks to 18 years who require an anaesthetic or a procedure.

Surgical Short Stay Ward (Campbell Ward) provides care for children and adolescents who have procedures requiring anaesthesia followed by a short stay in hospital of up to 36 hours.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists within Surgical Short Stay Unit to join us as Nurse Unit Manager (RN3) on a full-time, long-term basis.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide pivotal leadership and co-ordination of patient/client care delivery.
  • Act as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person.
  • Ensure services are culturally sensitive for patients and their families.
  • Maintain productive working relationships and manage conflict resolution.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
