About the role

Provide nursing and/or midwifery services in a variety of health service settings which has been consolidated by experience and/or further study with staff at this level developing from competent to proficient practitioners.

Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.

The Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan.

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinical Nurse will work closely with the IBD Nurse Consultant inflammatory bowel disease/gastroenterology medical, nursing and allied health staff to provide a patient­ centred service to promote and improve health outcomes for patients receiving care treatment via the inflammatory bowel disease service at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital/Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The Clinical Nurse will provide case management, co-ordination of biologic medications, support to maintain the IBD patient helpline and safety and quality improvement projects as required by the IBD team to ensure Key performance indicators for this service are met.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

Essential Requirements:

• Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
• Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
