Overview

Kangaroo Island boasts more than 500 kilometres of stunning coastline and beaches, and nearly half its landscapes are free of development and home to some extraordinary wildlife such as – wallabies, echidnas, kangaroos, koalas, goannas and an abundance of birdlife.

As part of the community Mental health team, you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health services appropriate to the needs of consumers and the local community. To achieve this, you will be working with consumers across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings, and utilise a combination of therapeutic approaches. Operating within pre-determined guidelines and in a multidisciplinary primary health care setting, you will assess consumers, select and implement different therapeutic interventions and/or support programs, and evaluate progress. For appointment at the AHP1 or AHP2 level, you will hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology and have registration with the relevant professional association. For appointment at the RN1 or RN2 level, you will be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current practicing certificate, along with a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice. Applying your knowledge of the relevant mental health standards, acts and guidelines, you will be committed to providing mental health care that is consumer-centred and least restrictive. You will bring the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting, and possess effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
