About You:

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team, with the shared purpose of making a difference in the lives of older people.

You will be passionate about working with older people who are experiencing challenges in mental health and well-being, including people living with dementia. About the Role:

In this role you will be accountable to the Team Leader of Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) Community Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS). Your role will be to work within the NALHN OPMHS Community Team, providing therapeutic engagement and coordination of care to the range of older people receiving community-based mental health services. You will be comfortable working as a member interdisciplinary team, spending time out and about with consumers living in the community.  

You will also be ready to be part of nurturing the NALHN OPMHS growth culture, built around developing a values-based workforce, facilitating excellence in care, and providing transparent accountability. You will work in partnership with the other team members within an aspirational organisational change process. NALHNs purpose is to deliver exceptional health and well-being services that enhance the quality of life for our community. 

Occupational Therapy 

The community team Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive assessments and interventions for consumers who are experiencing concerns regarding occupational performance. Occupational Therapy adopts a sensory modulation approach to offer insight into an individual’s level of functioning and provide non-pharmacological recommendations for reducing distress, maximising functioning, and enhancing meaningful engagement.

  • Professional development opportunities. Staff are eligible for external, funded professional development via the Allied Health Professionals Plus Professional Development Reimbursement Program, to allow you to continue to build upon your professional foundations; 
  • Opportunities to participate in research. NALHN have an Allied Health Research Chair, who can work with clinicians and teams to support clinical research; and
  • Regular opportunities to meet with Occupational Therapists across the Division of Mental Health to work on shared projects and continuing professional development.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
