The Nurse Consultant – Infection Control:

  • Provides an expert nursing and/or midwifery consultative services to all disciplines within Country Health Connect to ensure a safe environment for staff, clients and visitors.
  • Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
  • Provides support to the Regional Manager Community Nursing or equivalent in the leadership of nurses/midwives and other health care professionals in the service.
  • Responsible for the provision of leadership, co-ordination and implementation of Infection Control Programs and systems to: assess infection risks, determine priorities and eliminate risks or implement controls; ensure staff understanding of their infection control responsibilities; and develop policies/procedures in accordance with best practice and principles in the community.
  • The Nurse Consultant - Infection Control is a Registered Nurse who through experience, education and the development of collaborative relationships with other health care professionals, has acquired the additional skills and knowledge to be recognised as an expert in this field and provide clinical expertise to staff in this area of practice.

 

You must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate, with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
