The Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) actively participates in providing a comprehensive range of evidence-based, recovery-oriented services within the multi-disciplinary Mental Health (MH) service of the Local Health Network (LHN), tailored to meet the needs of consumers and the local community. Through continuous professional development and hands-on experience, the RN enhances their knowledge, skills, and capabilities.

In their role, the RN contributes to delivering integrated clinical mental health care across community, acute, and rehabilitation service settings. They employ a diverse range of approaches, including preventive measures, early interventions, therapeutic methods, and evaluation techniques such as individual and family therapies, group programs, health promotion initiatives, and community development projects.

Progressing from novice to proficient practitioners, employees at this level continuously consolidate their expertise and professionalism through ongoing learning and practical exposure. They take personal accountability for maintaining high standards of nursing/midwifery care and for delegating tasks to others as appropriate.

Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

Must be enrolled and/or willing to enrol in further postgraduate studies within Mental Health practice.

Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Units are an exciting development in this expansion of country-located services for mental health consumers. Operating in the Northwest (Whyalla), the Riverland (Berri) and the Southeast (Mount Gambier), the Inpatient Mental Health Units provide a stepped model of acute care, supporting the recovery-orientated mental health service.

This is a part time vacancy, working 40 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
