Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service

The Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service is a large regional hospital that provides a wide range of services including emergency, general and surgical, maternity, outpatient, and outreach services. The hospital has 58 beds including flex and monitored beds. The Port Augusta Hospital also has chemotherapy services and has a Renal Dialysis Unit and a Paediatric Department, both of which are the largest outside of Adelaide. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. About the Role:

Are you ready to make a profound difference in mental health care? As a Mental Health Nurse Consultant, you'll be at the forefront of transforming mental health services within a dynamic general medical and emergency department setting. Your expertise will drive excellence and innovation in mental health care across regional South Australia and the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service (RRMHS).

In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate with key stakeholders from the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN), playing a critical role in shaping and enhancing mental health responses. You'll partner with the FUNLHN Community Mental Health Teams, offering invaluable education and mentorship to elevate the skills of staff, ensuring top-notch care for mental health consumers.

As a leader in your field, you'll deliver clinical, educational, and professional mental health services with a focus on improving safety and quality. You'll provide expert guidance and consultancy that supports recovery across various community, acute, and rehabilitation settings.

  • Offer advanced mental health nursing care and clinical leadership.
  • Lead and coordinate projects and programs that drive positive outcomes for consumers and services.
  • Mentor and educate staff to enhance their mental health management skills.

About you:

  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Holds a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).
  • Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision and leadership of multidisciplinary staff, student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and/or midwives.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal consumers.
