As an Enrolled Nurse your primary role will be to support the Registered Nurse / Midwife in providing person-centred care consistent with regulatory and statutory requirements. However, at all times the Enrolled Nurse retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable in providing nursing care. Work will be negotiated with the Nurse Unit Manager in consultation with Program Nurses.

As a Registered Nurse you will provide nursing services in a variety of health service and community settings, assessing individual patient/client needs, plan, implement and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies. The Registered Nurse will also provide support to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses, graduate nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses.

As a Clinical Nurse your primary role will continue to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, you will be assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities will be negotiated as part of the career development plan determined by the performance review/development plan process.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing consumer/client and family centred care.
  • Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, functioning and exercising judgement independently.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, recognise and report changes in clinical condition.

Essential Criteria

All applicants must be:

  • Enrolled/Registered or eligible for enrolment/registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who
    holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Experience and assessment of a consumer 
  • Wound care experience
  • Experience working with limited supervision
  • 2 years’ experience in the provision of nursing care in the healthcare setting in accordance with the
    appropriate standards of practice.

Please note to be considered for the RN2C classification the Registered Nurse must have at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience, with demonstrated experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
