Please note that this position is multi-classified as either a MDP2 or MDP3.

Overview

We invite you to become part of a collegiate, committed, multidiscipline team within the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN) offering a PGY2+ Rural Generalist / General Training Program placement based across the Barossa Hills Fleurieu health services.

This program is specially aimed to provide Trainee Medical Officers (TMO) who have just completed their internship and are seeking to work in rural general practice or general training in a rural hospital, experience at the postgraduate year 2 level (PGY2+). There are opportunities within the Program to undertake rotations in Emergency, General Practice/Anaesthetics, General Practice/Emergency, General Practice/Obstetrics, General Practice/Aboriginal Health and Medical Inpatients. This training program will set you up for a Rural Generalist career in the future.

Multiple positions available across the following hospitals:

  • Mount Barker Hospital - Emergency Department/Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Strathalbyn Hospital - General Medicine Unit
  • Gawler Health Service - Emergency Department
  • Southern Fleurieu Health Service - General Medicine Unit

Requirement to have AMC1 & AMC2.

Can commence from Clinical Term 2025 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Term 1 Monday 03/02/2025 – Tuesday 06/05/2025
Term 2 

Wednesday 07/05/2025 – Tuesday 05/08/2025

Term 3

Wednesday 06/08/2025 – Tuesday 04/11/2025

Term 4

Wednesday 05/11/2025 – Sunday 01/02/2026

Preferences will be given to applicants committed to a career in rural and remote practice in either a primary care or hospital-based setting, or a combination of both.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
