Are you an Allied Health Assistant looking to make a difference in Southern Adelaide's local community? 

The Allied Health Assistant will provide assistance and support to the Paediatric Ambulatory Care Social Work team in the delivery of allied health services to patients and their families of the SALHN Ambulatory Paediatric Social Work Service, under the supervision of an allied health professional. The role will work with internal and external stakeholders whilst managing a busy workload and competing demands. 

About the Role: 

Reporting to the Senior Social Worker of the Women's and Children's Division, duties for the role will include: 

  • Accurately maintaining therapy related databases and patient documentation under the explicit direction of the supervising AHP 
  • Working with the Social Worker to address barriers to attending Outpatient appointments, and/ or following treatment plans
  • Assisting patients and family with practical assistance such as access to transport, accommodation, toiletries, clothing, etc. where appropriate
  • Contributing to coordination, evaluation and implementation of service improvement programs and departmental planning 
  • Assist in supervising and training AHA-1 and AHA-2 staff where suitable

About you: 

  • Ability to relate to and empathise with a wide range of people, including patients, families & carers, clerical staff, clinical staff, and external agency staff
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 
  • Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs of the workplace on a daily basis
