Duration of the training program: 12 months from 3/2/2025 up to 6/2/2025

Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement. At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.

About the Role

Join our dedicated team as a Cardiothoracic Surgery Registrar, where you'll care for patients across multiple settings, including outpatients, wards, ICU, and theatres at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This role involves a structured on-call arrangement of 1:8, including weekend duties, ensuring you gain comprehensive experience in managing cardiothoracic surgical patients. You’ll have the opportunity to rotate through clinical and non-clinical duties, allowing for a well-rounded service delivery that meets the evolving needs of our department.

In this position, you will provide supervised medical services while contributing to clinical leadership and teamwork. Your role will encompass participating in multidisciplinary meetings, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting medical teaching and research initiatives. About You

We are looking for a motivated Cardiothoracic Surgery Registrar who meets the following key requirements:

  • Qualifications: Medical qualifications that are registrable with AHPRA.
  • Clinical Skills: A high standard of clinical practice with proven integrity and adaptability.
  • Teamwork: Ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Experience & Knowledge: Experience in assessing pre-operative and managing post-operative cardiothoracic patients, with an understanding of quality improvement principles and patient rights.
