About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Yarrow Place Rape and Sexual Assault Service team as Casual Medical Practitioner / or Casual Medical Consultant on 12 month casual contract.

Casual Medical Practitioner/ Consultant should:

  • Provide a high-quality community based forensic medical service, using evidence-based practice, including medicolegal examinations for women and men who have experienced sexual assault.
  • Provide documentation and reports for use within the legal system.
  • Provide expert evidence regarding sexual assault issues and injury causation for the courts.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent; Registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration

Your experience should include:

  • Acute medical assessment in either an Emergency Department or other acute medical setting
  • Women’s health and particularly in the performance of anogenital examinations
  • Knowledge of contemporary practice, issues and research in relation to sexual assault medicine and interpersonal violence, and of the issues relating to people (and particularly women) who have experienced rape and/or sexual assault, including a commitment to a feminist analysis of the issue
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally
