Overview

This role presents a great opportunity to join the strong and supportive team within the South Coast District Hospital in Victor Harbor. Working within a rural hospital setting in the Emergency Department and the Inpatient Medical Unit (IMU), you will gain exposure to a casemix specific to the Fleurieu Peninsula population demographics. This will include providing code blue support after hours for the IMU. Working in collaboration with the responsible medical staff, nurses and allied health professionals, you will supervise the medical care delivered by other medical officers within the department. You may also participate in education and training for medical and nursing staff along with contributing to Continuous Quality Improvement activities within the practice setting. South Coast District Hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services to patients from across the Fleurieu Peninsula and surrounding communities. Our hospital provides 24-hour emergency care and acute inpatient medical and surgical services. These include day surgery, maternity and obstetric care, palliative care, cancer care, renal dialysis and cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation.

You must hold a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration. With demonstrated experience in clinical emergency medicine, you will be competent in range of routine and common emergency procedural skills. Capable of working with limited or no direction, you will demonstrate a high level of skill in professional judgement, clinical competence, negotiation and communication within a multidisciplinary setting.
