Join Our Team as a Mental Health Peer Support Worker

As a Mental Health Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive, recovery-oriented services. Working under the supervision of a clinician, you will use your unique experiences to provide non-clinical psychosocial support to mental health consumers across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting consumers in achieving their goals outlined in their care plans.
  • Helping to educate both consumers and service providers about recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Building rapport and fostering connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Lived Experience: Personal journey in mental health recovery and ability to provide non-judgmental support.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to connect with mental health consumers, families, and colleagues.
  • Organisational Skills: Capacity to manage workloads, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with mental health issues, including experience with Aboriginal consumers.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Empathy: Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for individuals experiencing mental illness
