About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Metropolitan Youth Health (MYH) team as a Youth Health Worker ( Young Men/Young Father's) , where you will be responsible for:

  • Engagement of young men and young fathers who are dis-advantaged and/or vulnerable to access and navigate through specialised primary health care services, and who at risk of, or have been impacted by Domestic and Family Violence.
  • Delivery of therapeutic trauma specialist counselling and group services,  and as a result, young men/young fathers are engaging in addressing their risk of Domestic and Family Violence 
  • Development and delivery of quality outcomes for clients through the provision of youth health care services within a therapeutic counselling approach, aligned to the Metropolitan Youth Health Model of Care.
  • Improved service access and outcomes for young people and young pregnant and parenting people through working in partnership with young people and their families and in collaboration with other health professionals and government and community agencies

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to:

  • Critically analyse and respond to the changing needs of the clients and the organisation
  • To work within a gender accountability framework when working with young fathers and their partners in a DFV context
  • Provide high standard of therapeutic counselling service and support of young men/young fathers; in assessment, case planning and health care services within a one to one and trauma specialist approach to young men/young fathers with complex needs
  • Engage with young men and young fathers, both in an individual and group work capacity.
  • Lead collaborative work activities, prioritise workloads and meet set timelines, whilst working under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training and development programs.
