Duration of the training program: 12 months from 1/2/2025 up to 1/2/2026

Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement. At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.

About the Role

Join a dynamic and supportive urology team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH), where you will play a key role in the timely assessment and management of patients with acute urological conditions. As an integral part of the team, you will work alongside specialists to assess patients referred from the emergency department, other hospitals, and general practitioners in the community. Your responsibilities will also include inpatient referrals from other specialist units and participation in the on-call roster for urology registrar cover, with the full support of an on-call consultant for clinical decision-making and surgical interventions.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to develop your surgical skills through supervised theatre responsibilities and outpatient care. Over the course of 12 months, you will gain valuable experience in procedures such as scrotal exploration, flexible cystoscopy, and bladder biopsies, with the potential to progress to more advanced surgeries based on your proficiency. You'll contribute to the safe, efficient, and well-documented management of urology inpatients and support the training of interns and resident medical officers, positioning yourself for future success in Urology Surgical Education and Training (SET).

About You

We are seeking a dedicated professional with the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • MBBS or equivalent, and general registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a commitment to quality improvement
  • Experience in the assessment and management of urological conditions, with developing clinical skills in flexible cystoscopy
