Yorke and Northern Local Health Network have temporary and permanent positions for Registered Nurses wishing to work within the fast paced and dynamic Emergency Department at the Wallaroo Hospital located in the beautiful Yorke Peninsula.

The Yorke Peninsula region offers a lovely place to live and work, providing a beautiful coastal living, the areas provide great beaches for swimming and fishing. There are plenty of areas to explore on your days off to relax and unwind.

Opportunities are also available for successful Registered Nurses employed in this role to expand and consolidate on additional skills within additional services at Wallaroo Hospital if desired.

Port Pirie Hospital

Port Pirie Regional Health Service is a 52 bed Acute facility inclusive of Emergency, Perioperative, Renal Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Birthing, Outpatient Services, Acute Medical and Acute Surgical Services with a co-located Residential Aged Care Facility - Hammill House.

Located 223 kilometres from Adelaide – Port Pirie is a vibrant city known as the “City of Opportunity” with major retail, attractions, tourism, arts, and events.  It is nestled in the Southern Flinders Ranges as well as being situated on the Spencer Gulf, providing the perfect location of rolling hills meeting the beautiful coastline and is a small drive to some of the most spectacular and diverse hiking trails.

Port Pirie Hospital Emergency Department


Port Pirie Emergency Department is a dynamic service which sees over 12,000 people per year inclusive of both adult and paediatric presentations.  Led by a dedicated, highly skilled, values driven leadership team, the department sees patients of varying acuity and is an up-transfer facility for many YNLHN sites. Port Pirie ED is a Code Stroke Thrombolysis centre with 24/7 access to CT and radiology.  The department is staffed and supported by medical officers and senior nurses providing comprehensive, high-level emergency care to patients.

Positions Available:

  • Registered Nurse: Temporary P/T, 1.84 FTE (Various Positions) Commencing ASAP until 31 January 2025
  • Registered Nurse: Temporary P/T, 0.95 FTE (36 hours per week) Commencing ASAP until 8 August 2025
