The Sterilisation Services Attendant undertakes activities associated with the reprocessing of reusable medical devices which will result in the timely and efficient supply to a range of departments/areas within the hospital. Employees at this level will have demonstrated experience in Sterilisation Services with knowledge of infection control principles, reusable medical devices and methods utilised for disinfection /sterilisation. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Manager Sterilisation Services, this role carries out a range of sterilising operations which result in the timely and efficient supply of equipment, reusable medical devices, and anaesthetic equipment to the hospital. Duties for the role will include:

  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers,
  • Undertaking training as required and maintaining required skills and knowledge applicable to the role,
  • Undertaking reprocessing of reusable medical devices in accordance with AS5369:2023,
  • Monitoring, reporting and recording any malfunctions of equipment or issues of non-compliance.

 

About you:

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the English language. 
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and procedures.
  • Experience working well as an individual or a team member in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to cooperate with staff at all levels.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and work with a wide range of people from different cultures, backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Completion of AQF Certificate 3 in Sterilisation Services or equivalent and at least 560 hours satisfactory in-service experience within a sterile supply department.

Please note: that this position is multi-classed as either a WHA3, WHA4 or WHA5 and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.
