Kimba Multipurpose Service (MPS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader Catering and Utilities to oversee the efficient and effective delivery of catering, cleaning, linen, and laundry services. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all services meet the highest standards, while also leading and guiding a team of staff to deliver quality care in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Service Management: Ensure the production and distribution of food services is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards, delivering meals of the highest quality to meet dietary and cultural needs.
  • Team Coordination: Lead, guide, and assist staff in providing efficient cleaning, linen, and laundry services, ensuring these services meet the required standards.
  • Supervision & Training: Allocate tasks, inspect work, and manage staff to ensure quality and timeliness. Provide on-the-job training and ensure adherence to workplace procedures and safe work practices.
  • Cook Duties: On occasion, you may be required to perform duties as a Cook, ensuring meal preparation follows safe food handling and storage procedures.
  • Roster Management: Maintain and manage staff rosters, ensuring adequate staffing levels for all shifts, and address any operational issues related to scheduling.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all work practices comply with relevant safety legislation, including food storage, cleaning procedures, and workplace health and safety guidelines.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You will have trade qualifications or equivalent skills as a Cook, with significant experience in catering and food preparation in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience in supervising and guiding a team, with the ability to delegate, inspect work, and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and staff from various departments and backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to people from different cultures and backgrounds, and provide guidance to staff.
  • Experience managing rosters, deadlines, and competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to use your initiative and sound judgment in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the catering and utility services team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer programs for roster management, reporting, and administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with safe working conditions, food handling and storage, and cleaning procedures. Understanding of special dietary requirements and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including risk management, health and safety standards, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare guidelines.
