The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) has its main site at Flinders Medical Centre, with additional clinics and operating lists at Noarlunga Hospital.  The service provides expertise to patients of the southern districts of Adelaide and South Australia. Specialist Plastic Surgeons work within SALHN, assisted by procedural doctors specialising in skin cancer assessment and excisions. The Department is active in clinical research and is accredited for advanced training of plastic and reconstructive surgery registrars with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. 

About the Role:

As the Fellow for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, your duties may include: 

  • Providing appropriate clinical care to patients
  • Coordinating the follow up care of patients
  • Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decision
  • Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care
  • Acting as a role model and mentor for medical students, resident medical officers and interns.

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  • Registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
  • Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing.
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of surgery as expected for level of training.
  • Research experience and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Fellow will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
