About the Role

As a Geriatric Medicine Consultant with the TQEH geriatric medicine department (https://www.tqeh.sa.gov.au/services-clinics/geriatric-medicine-aged-care), you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality clinical care across a range of services in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, including acute and sub-acute care, consultative services in both hospital and community settings, ambulatory and rehabilitative care, as well as rural services. You will be responsible for overseeing comprehensive geriatric assessments and ensuring that elderly patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care tailored to their individual needs.

In addition to clinical practice, you will contribute to the department's teaching and research activities, providing guidance to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will also play an active role in quality assurance initiatives, ensuring that our services remain at the forefront of geriatric medicine. About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team. To excel in this role, you will have the following key qualities:

  • Eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Geriatric Medicine with the Medical Board of South Australia, and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in supervising, training, and guiding medical staff, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in geriatric care, including rehabilitation, dementia services, and community outreach, with experience in teaching and research.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality improvement practices, public sector management, and risk and safety management in a clinical environment.
