About the role

Step into a dynamic leadership position as the Deputy Director of Pharmacy Services, where you’ll play a vital role in shaping high-quality, patient-responsive pharmacy services. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day operations of a designated pharmacy service, aligning with SA Pharmacy’s strategic priorities. Your leadership will ensure the provision of comprehensive and cost-effective professional services for patients, as well as the development, training, and supervision of a dedicated team of staff, interns, and students.

You will take charge of optimising patient outcomes by ensuring all services adhere to policies, regulations, and contemporary pharmacy practice standards. This includes actively contributing to teaching and training programs, developing health service drug policies, and participating in key committees and working parties. With a focus on excellence, innovation, and professional responsibility, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care while mentoring the next generation of pharmacy professionals.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to step into the role of Deputy Director of Pharmacy Services. To excel in this role, you’ll bring a blend of strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional pharmacy services.

  • Qualifications & Registration: Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent, and be registered or eligible for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
  • Leadership & Management: Demonstrated management experience with the ability to lead teams, implement change management strategies, and develop innovative solutions to improve service delivery in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Skills & Abilities: Showcase exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving expertise, and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities with accuracy and efficiency. You will also have a proven ability to educate and train staff at all levels.
  • Experience & Knowledge: Extensive hospital pharmacy practice experience, including dispensing, distribution, patient counselling, and multidisciplinary team leadership. Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy codes of practice and standards is essential, along with a background in research and teaching.
