We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) as Pre-Analytical Operational Services Officers. 

About the role

The Pre-Analytical Operational Services Officer plays a vital role within the Pre-Analytical Services team, with responsibilities aligned to OPS1 and OPS2 classifications. At the OPS1 level, you will provide exceptional customer service and patient care, focusing on Phlebotomy, specimen collection, and initial specimen management. Your duties include receiving, sorting, and preparing specimens for analysis, while ensuring accurate and timely data entry into laboratory systems. Under close supervision, you will develop foundational skills and gain experience in delivering high-quality, patient-centred outcomes.

At the OPS2 level, you will take on greater autonomy and responsibility, managing specimens in the pre-analytical stage to maintain sample quality and integrity for timely diagnosis and treatment. You will ensure proper specimen storage and transport under defined conditions, while effectively handling internal and external enquiries. Operating as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to training and mentoring activities, supporting the development of junior team members while continuing to deliver exceptional service and quality outcomes.

About You

  • Availability & Flexibility: You are available to commence work at 7:00 am and are comfortable working across a 7-day roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Phlebotomy & Technical Skills: You will be part of the ward phlebotomy team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and must be confident working with computer systems to support the role's requirements.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Your exceptional customer service skills ensure a positive, professional, and compassionate experience for patients and staff.
  • Relevant Experience: For OPS2 positions, you will have at least 2 years of documented phlebotomy experience in Australia, demonstrating competence and proficiency in specimen collection.
