About the role

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while playing a vital role in diagnostic services? As a key member of the Patient Services team, you will provide high-quality customer service to patients through phlebotomy, specimen collection, and management. Your expertise in the pre-analytical stage will ensure quality specimens for testing, supporting accurate and timely diagnoses and treatments. You will also be responsible for data entry using Laboratory Information Systems and contributing to the overall efficiency of pathology services.

This role requires a strong sense of duty and accountability, with the ability to handle complex situations and make confident decisions. You will bring a depth of understanding to your area of practice and take ownership of your work, including the supervision and training of staff where applicable. About You

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused professional who thrives in a patient-sensitive environment. To excel in this role, you will bring:

  • Skills and Abilities: Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with staff and patients, a strong customer service orientation with a commitment to patient confidentiality, and the ability to work autonomously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.

  • Experience: Proven independent phlebotomy experience, including experience in paediatric blood collection and data entry, with the ability to work across all areas of Patient Services and actively contribute to the training and induction of other staff.

  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of pathology collection policies and procedures, medical terminology, Work Health and Safety, and infection control principles and guidelines.

  • Professional Qualities: A proactive and energetic approach to work, critical thinking skills to exceed performance expectations, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to continual professional development in the field.
