About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team as a Nurse Consultant (Mental Health Nurse) where you will be responsible for:

  • The provision of expert clinical knowledge and or interventions in child and adolescent mental health nursing through the application of mental health nursing assessment, including risk assessment.
  • Mental health care delivered through the application of professional standards and adherence to policies, protocols and procedures and working within a model of client centred care.
  • Providing expert knowledge in monitoring client care plans and clinical review programmes/audits to ensure quality client outcomes.
  • Using available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff.
  • The assessment, planning, implementation, and co-ordination of care/appropriate service delivery options using significant degree of independent clinical decision making.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 3 years post registration experience as a registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated competence in delivering proficient and comprehensive mental health nursing assessment, risk assessment and care planning/referral to, children and young people experiencing complex, acute, or chronic mental illness/ trauma or a wide range of emotional and behavioural disturbance.
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses and /or midwives.
  • Effective Leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
